Police and fire crews were called to Canal Road in the Timperley area, near Deansgate Lane, at around 10am today (Monday). Police said officers responded to 'reports of concern for the welfare of a man in a van' in the Bridgewater Canal.
The man was rescued from the vehicle in the water and was taken to hospital. Canal Road was blocked off as emergency crews responded.

In a statement, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "At approximately 10am this morning (5 February 2024), police were called to reports of concern for welfare of a man in a van in the canal near Canal Road in Timperley.
"Police and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service attended."
