Train passengers in Bristol and Somerset are being warned of delays as week-long improvement works are taking place from Saturday. From January 20, until January 28, track upgrade work will affect train services that would normally run between Bristol Temple Meads and Weston-super-Mare.

GWR are carrying out works which will see improvements to the tracks and signalling in the area. The aim is to ease congestion and enable the operator to run more trains in the future.

But for the next week, the improvement works will affect anyone wanting to travel between Bristol and Taunton on the trains. While some trains will still run, they will do so via an alternative route, extending journey times by around 45 minutes. Replacement buses are also planned between Bristol Temple Meads, Nailsea & Backwell, Yatton, Worle, Weston Milton and Weston-super-Mare.

Bristol to Weston-super-Mare – Saturday 20 to Sunday 28 January

Track upgrade work will affect train services that would normally run between Bristol Temple Meads and Weston-super-Mare. Trains will still run between Weston-super-Mare and Taunton.

CrossCountry train services will continue to run between Bristol Temple Meads and Taunton using an alternative route, extending journey times by around 45 minutes. Replacement buses are planned between Bristol Temple Meads, Nailsea & Backwell, Yatton, Worle, Weston Milton and Weston-super-Mare. No replacement buses will stop at Bedminster or Parson Street.

Buses for Nailsea & Backwell will pick-up/drop-off at Backwell Crossroads, on the A370, and not at the railway station due to a low-arched bridge. For anyone travelling to/from Bedminster or Parson Street, customers should use local buses to travel to Bristol Temple Meads, where replacement buses will be running towards Weston-super-Mare.

Tickets will be accepted on the follow local buses
