Day 2 of laser scanning of Ratna Bhandar in Puri Jagannath temple
by Sudeshna Panda · KalingaTVPuri: The second day of the laser scanning of Ratna Bhandar in Puri Jagannath temple was concluded on Wednesday. As many as 22 more places are scheduled to be scanned said reliable reports. The laser scanning by a team of 15-member ASI (Archaeological Survey of India) officials which started on Tuesday.
The laser scanning documentation was done at 37 points in the North West and North East sides of the Ratna Bhandar, said Superintendent of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), DB Gadanayak added that tomorrow at 8 am the laser scanning will be done on the northern part of the outer side wall of the Ratna Bhandar.
The officials reportedly clicked 3D pictures during the laser scanning and a team of experts shall analyze and verify to ascertain the condition of the treasure house of the 12th Century shrine and will inform the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) whether there will be any need for the repairing of the Ratna Bhandar or not.
It is to be noted here that during its meeting on November 3, the Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee (SJTMC) gave permission to the ASI to conduct the laser scanning for repair of the cracks of Ratna Bhandar. The Orissa High Court had ordered for the repair of the treasure house of Lord Jagannath and his siblings.
