Gardai close busy Dublin road following serious crash as public asked to avoid area

Gardai and emergency services are at the scene of a serious road traffic collision on Manor Street in Stoneybatter.

Emergency services are at the scene of a serious collision near Dublin city centre.

The incident happened on Manor Street in Stoneybatter this morning.

Gardai have closed the road and put local diversions in place.

They are asking motorists to avoid the area and consider taking an alternative route if possible.

A spokesperson said: “Gardai and emergency services are at the scene of a serious road traffic collision on Manor St. in Stoneybatter.

"The road is currently closed and local diversions are in place. Motorists are advised to avoid the area, consider an alternative route if possible.”

In an update, gardai confirmed that female pedestrian has died after being struck by a truck around 11.15am.

They are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact them.

A Garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are currently at the scene of a fatal road traffic collision that occurred in Stoneybatter, Dublin 7 this morning, Monday 11th December 2023 at approximately 11.15am.

"A female pedestrian was fatally injured when she was struck by a truck on Manor Street. The body of the woman has been removed from the scene to Dublin City Mortuary.

"The driver of the truck was uninjured during the incident.

"Manor Street is currently closed pending a technical examination of the scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Traffic diversions are in place.

"Gardaí in the Bridewell Garda Station are appealing to anyone who may have information in relation to this incident to contact them.

"Any road users or pedestrians who were on Manor Street, or the surrounding streets, this morning between 10.45am and 11.30am and who may have camera footage (including dash cam) is asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.

"Anyone with information in relation to this collision is asked to contact Bridewell Garda Station on 01 666 8200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station."
