Dramatic armed police and helicopter incident after 'gun' pointed out of car window

by Molly Seaman · DevonLiveThree 19-year-olds have been arrested following a firearm incident yesterday, Tuesday, September 17. Armed police and a police helicopter were called to reports of a firearm being pointed out of a car.
Around 5pm police after concerns about a car travelling from Newton Abbot towards Torquay. A firearm was being pointed out of one of the windows, police have said.
Armed police and the NPAS helicopter were called to the scene. A stationary vehicle was located in Plympton.
Officers conducted a search of the car and a replica assault rifle was located. Three 19-year-old men from Plymouth were detained and arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
Two of the three have been released on police bail. The third will face no further action.
A statement from Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were called at around 5pm following reports of a firearm being pointed out of the window of a car travelling from Newton Abbot towards Torquay.
"Armed officers and the NPAS helicopter were deployed and following a search the vehicle was located stationary in Plympton.
"Three 19-year-old males from Plymouth were detained and arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. Two have been released on police bail and the third will be the subject of no further action.
"A search of the car uncovered a replica assault rifle."
