From foe to friend: Megha gets closer to Revanth!

When he was in the opposition, Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy used to make wild allegations against Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited (MEIL), headed by Krishna Reddy, one of the richest contractors in the country.

The MEIL had bagged massive contracts worth thousands of crores of rupees like Kaleshwaram irrigation project, Palamuru-Ranga Reddy lift irrigation scheme, Mission Bhagiratha and road projects etc., during the Bharat Rashtra Samithi regime.

At every press conference, Revanth Reddy used to describe MEIL chief as a “big thief.”

In 2022, he even demanded a high-level judicial probe against (Irrigation) Special Chief Secretary Rajat Kumar, for whose daughter’s marriage reception, the MEIL had allegedly borne all the expenses at Taj Falaknuma hotel.

Revanth Reddy, who was then the PCC chief, demanded that the MEIL should not be awarded any fresh contract until the probe is completed.

But now that Revanth Reddy is the chief minister of Telangana, he has forgotten all the past and has started treating MEIL as a prestigious company and its chief a good friend of the state.

On Saturday, MEIL chief met Revanth Reddy and announced massive investment of Rs 200 crore for the establishment of the prestigious Young India Skills University in Hyderabad.

The MEIL offered to bear the entire expenditure for the construction of the entire skill university campus at a cost of Rs 200 crore under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

It would take up the responsibility of constructing all the required buildings in the university campus, the company announced.

It also offered to bear the expenditure of providing state of the art infrastructure facilities for the university. On the occasion, the MEIL entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the State Government for the construction of buildings.

The chief minister performed “Bhumi Puja” for the construction of the Skill University on 57 acres of land near Meerkhanpet in Kandukur mandal in August this year.

He congratulated MEIL for coming forward to construct the university campus with CSR funds.
