Wife of Michael Jackson's bodyguard trapped in Ferrari in Storm Isha

The wife of Michael Jackson's multi-millionaire ex-bodyguard has caused damage costing £50,000 after getting trapped inside her brand new Ferrari Spider for 'a few hours' when their electric gates malfunctioned during Storm Isha.

South African-born singer Moniqe Fiddes, 30, needed rescuing from her £320,000 yellow Ferrari F8 Spider after bad weather interfered with the electric gates outside the Devon home she shares with husband Matt, 44.

Mr Fiddes, who worked as pop star Jackson's bodyguard for a decade, had to call a local electrics firm to free the car and his wife and blamed Storm Isha.

He had only just bought his wife the car as a late Christmas present, only for her to get trapped in it for 'a few hours'.

He shared pictures of the incident online, expressing relief for his wife's eventual safety while also urging others to be wary.

Mr Fiddes, a martial arts specialist who has built a firm valued at £120million, posted on Instagram: 'Stay safe everyone with Storm Isha! Our electric gates cut out and smashed my wife's Xmas present her new Ferrari.

'She got trapped for a few hours while we forced the gates open.

'Probably £50k plus damage but it just shows you how material things don't matter and I'm just glad she's safe.

'Big thank you to Berry Electrical for coming out so quick and rescuing my beloved wife.

'Stay safe! Watch out for fallen trees, power cuts etc.'

Mr Fiddes, originally from Barnstaple in Devon, surprised his wife with a brand new car for a late Christmas present - to add to her £600,000 collection of supercars.

He said: 'Moniqe deserves it - she's got to put up with me and my mad world.

'It's true that behind every successful man there is a hard-working woman, and behind the scenes my wife has to support me running our companies and our growing property portfolio.

'Taking phone calls and working through the night - as well as being a amazing mother to all my six children.

He has previously spoken of leaving school with no qualifications and still being unable to write, yet making his fortune and amassing an array of supercars.

'The last Ferrari I bought for her to celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary - so I have spent £600,000 in supercars for my wife within eight months and a brand new V class £77,000 Mercedes as a family car.'

Mr Fiddes opened his martial arts school business with just £100 - and it was recently valued at £120million, while he boasts the largest privately-owned property portfolio in Devon.

He originally took up martial arts after being bullied at school and went on to achieve a 7th Degree black belt master in tae kwon do as well as black belts in kickboxing and kung fu.

He says he has since provided bodyguard services for 'numerous celebrity clientele including actors, supermodels and singers' - including work as Michael Jackson's bodyguard for more than a decade before the pop star's death in 2009.

He had been introduced to Jackson by mutual friend Uri Geller.

Mr Fiddes was also taken on as a personal trainer by model Katie Price in 2019.

He previously told how he planned to reign in his lavish Christmas gift spending on his children, after appearing in a TV reality show.

The family took part in 2017 in Channel 5's Rich House Poor House, which involved families from the richest ten per cent of the UK swapping lives and budgets with a family from the lowest ten per cent for a week.

Mr Fiddes described his wife as 'very humble', having grown up 'less fortunate' in South Africa

He said at the time: 'The kids have taken to the changes really well, I'm so proud of them. They'd rather spend time with me than the latest gadget and that's important.

'Listening to Moniqe's stories growing up less fortunate has helped them to understand. Moniqe is very humble - she loves to shop at Asda and Iceland, she buys clothes for everyone at Primark.

'Her favourite shop is definitely Poundland. She knows how to sniff out a good bargain and will get a few little stocking fillers for the kids from there.'

But he was forced into extra spending that Christmas after all when Moniqe then gave birth to daughter Mayella on Christmas Eve 2018.
