Dawn French wows in £45 M&S party dress in new festive advert

The actress and comedian is the star of M&S's latest pre-Christmas promotion and it seems that what's she's wearing has whetted customers' appetite just as much as the food treats on display. The newly-launched advert is the first of what's to be a six-part series and while it begins with French wearing check pyjamas she later changes into a stylish party dress which has clearly caught viewers' eye.
The midi-dress is now on sale at M&S and, as The Mirror reports, comments about the advert on Instagram include: “Can we get a link for the dress she is wearing, please?” and “Are Dawn’s dress and sparkly earrings available?” And another attraction is the price.
The shimmering black frock - described as a Textured V-Neck Midi Relaxed Dress - is on sale for £45. Featuring a flattering v-neckline, tiered skirt and long sleeves with gathering at the cuffs, it is said to ‘channel effortless glamour’. The advert first shows French looking less than enthusiastic about the upcoming festivities until her fairy friend steps in to help transform her home - and her outfit.
The 67-year-old then suddenly appears, all party-ready, in the dress which, with a focus upon comfort and coverage, seems set to prove a winner for women of all ages. It is available in sizes 8-24.
Being new in for the party season, the dress has not yet had many online reviews, though one shopper said: "Absolutely love this dress". Another customer who bought it had liked the style but found it didn’t suit them, writing: “Sadly this dress did nothing for me so returned.
"It was a little short in length, the fit was OK, the style appealed, but just did not suit me.” The store does however have plenty other sparkly dresses to choose from.
Elsewhere, current options around include a Black Velvet Drape Midi Dress from River Island, also £45, while Debenhams currently has 20% off a Dorothy Perkins Velvet Sequin Wrap Midi Dress, making it £54.40.
