Kirstie Allsopp calls for ban on specific type of houses and says 'stop'
Kirstie and Phil Spencer have given their thoughts on how to address Britain's housing crisis as their new series kicks off on Channel 4.

Channel 4 star Kirstie and Phil Spencer have given their thoughts on how to address Britain's housing crisis as their new series kicks off on Channel 4.
Speaking to theDaily MailWeekend Magazine, she said: “I would stop the building of detached houses.” S he continued: “They’re not environmentally practical. They don’t make best use of the sites. They have smaller gardens, there’s less community.
"That gap between the houses is a waste of space. You have to be brave, you have to tell the truth.” It comes ahead of a brand-new series of Kirstie and Phil’s Love It Or List It, which revealed it's the first time they've carried out work on a house and “hasn’t necessarily been covered by a rise in value over time”.

She said: “People have been spending double what they expected and not getting that back in terms of value added.” Property expert Kirstie also said a lot of people would see their mortgage payments “go through the roof” and warned “the crunch is happening”.
She warned homeowners to avoid “sticking your head in the sand” if their mortgage payments do become unmanageable as “it’s not your fault”. The show sees the pair go head to head as they battle it out to help homeowners decide whether to love or sell their home.
"First, if there’s a money problem coming down the tracks for you, don’t stick your head in the sand" Kirstie said. "Do the finances now. Talk to your family, talk to your children, talk to your boss, talk to your bank. Be completely honest, there’s no shame in it, it’s not your fault, it’s one of those things. Do not ignore it."
