The host of Channel 5 quiz show Eggheads has said there were 'no immediate plans' to film any more episodes. Jeremy Vine said he 'hadn't heard anything' about a new series 'for a while now'.

It'll be disappointing news for fans of the hit gameshow, which has been on the air since 2003. It was first shown on BBC One, went to BBC Two in 2005. News host Dermot Murnaghan was the initial host, with Jeremy Vine, 58, joining the show as a co-host in 2008, the Mirror reports.

Vine then took over as sole host when the series transferred to Channel 5 in 2021. However since the last episode aired in April 2023, rumours have been rife that the show was cancelled - with Vine now adding fuel to the flames.

The host told The Sun: “I haven't heard anything about Eggheads for a while now. I think I have done about 1,200 shows - but whether we are doing any more I don't know.

"We last filmed an episode over a year ago. It may well be we are doing it in 30 years' time, who knows, but no immediate plans for any more.” The Mirror has contacted a Channel 5 representative for comment.
