BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans have issued the same plea over Giovanni Pernice after he returned to the show to dance ALONE during the final. The BBC pro was dancing without a partner after Strictly Come Dancing celeb contestant Amanda Abbington refused to appear.

Ahead of the Strictly finale, Amanda made sure to wish her co-stars well. "Good luck tonight to these six beautiful humans" she captioned a snap of them on Instagram. But she was nowhere to be seen on Saturday night as Gio cut a lonely figure - with fans rushing to support him.

"Hmm Amanda has disappeared. No vt and no appearance in the group dance. #strictly #strictlycomedancing," said a fan. Elsewhere, one person said: "#strictly no Amanda then?" while another viewer joked: "So Amanda Abbington wasn’t in this years strictly obviously #strictly #StrictlyFinal."

Mark tweeted: "And we need justice for Giovanni for #Strictly 2024 after this years ghastly affair." Steph said: "I kinda hope Giovanni ends up leaving #Strictly this year. Would love to see him come to DWTS he would make a such a good addition to our show." Tina said: "No Amanda in that group dance.. maybe she and Giovanni really did fall out. #Strictly"

Announcing her departure in an official statement, Amanda penned: "It is with deepest regret that I had to leave Strictly. I did not come to this decision easily or lightly but for personal reasons, I am unable to continue. It was an absolute joy working with my fellow contestants, they are a beautiful, hardworking and talented group of people who I love and who I will miss seeing every Friday and Saturday and competing alongside."

She continued: "I want to thank the incredible Production team and everyone on Strictly who looked after me and who are so kind and caring. It's a wonderful bunch of people and I'll miss all of them. I'm so sad that I am unable to go any further. Thank you to everyone who voted and who sent wonderful messages and inspiring support. You are all amazing. Truly. Thank you."
