ITV Good Morning Britain star Susanna Reid has demanded a guest reply to her - after he appeared to be avoiding her question. ITV star Susanna was hosting with Ed Balls from 6am til 9am, with Labour MP Jonathan Ashworth on the show.

Susann said: "My point is Sir Keir Starmer has already said, even if it works, if you came into power, you would scrap it. And my question to you, from viewers, is why?" He replied: "It's not entirely clear what Rishi Sunak does think it would work because when he was chancellor, he didn't think it would work."

Susanna then responded: "He says he wanted to see whether it would be good value is exactly what you should do if you're scrutinising some proposal that's going to cost a lot of money. My question to you is,if it works and stops the boats, why would you scrap it?"

The MP said: "But it's not going to work And we don't believe we don't believe it's going well." Susanna then said: "Yes, but my question is, what if it does? You're not you are facing a general election this year. And for more than half of voters, immigration is an issue.

"They want something done quite apart from anything else." Getting frustrated, Susanna went on and directly said: "The human tragedy of people dying in these boats means that there needs to be action. If the Rwanda policy is introduced and works.

"Why would you scrap it?" In response, Mr Ashworth told her: "But it's not going to work." Repeating herself, Susanna said: "Mr. Ashworth you're not answering my question. Why did Sir Kier Starmer say that even if the policy worked to stop the boats, then he would scrap it?"

ITV GMB continues to air each weekday from 6am.
