From the makers of The Secret Life of the Zoo a new series will be going behind the scenes at Knowsley Safari.

Viewers will dive deep into the lives of the extraordinary animals that call the park home as well as those who care for them. They'll also join a host of visitors that were willing to have their reactions to the animals caught on dashcams.

The safari park, which is the longest safari drive in the UK, has been welcoming visitors for the last 50 years and is home to hundreds of wild animals from across the world. Ahead of the new series, which starts this week, a teaser trailer was shared on the park's Facebook page. Makers said that the docuseries "will showcase Knowsley Safari like you've never seen before" when it hits TV screens.

Produced by Blast! Films, the series is six episodes long and is going to be on Channel 4 weekly. The first episode will be broadcast on Thursday, January 4 at 8pm with catch up available on All 4.

What to expect in the first episode?

Viewers can expect to delve into the captivating dynamics of an African lion pride as they navigate their intricate social hierarchy and also witness the heart-stopping intensity of a Congo buffalo calf's birth.

More animal escapades include the life of Cosmo, a mischievous Fallow deer as he attempts to charm the ladies and the heart-warming antics of Kevin the baboon as he comes of age. The episode preview also mentions "racing rhinos" being featured.

Who is the voice for the series?

The cameras have been let behind the scenes to speak with those who know the animals best - but what about the stars who can't speak (the animals!).
