Concern from fans after Matt Lucas has to pull out of show
The comedian was due to perform today but had to cancel at the last minute
by Neil Shaw · Wales OnlineFans have sent messages of support to comedian Matt Lucas after he had to pull out of a show because of health problems. The former Bake Off presenter was due to appear in the annual West End Does: Christmas concert tonight.
The star posted on X to say: "My apologies. Thanks to a ferocious head cold which has gone on to my chest, giving me an epic cough & a voice like an elderly toad, I am stuck in bed & unable to appear at the ‘West End Does: Christmas’ concerts tomorrow. I was so looking forward to joining the amazing cast. I know the concerts will be terrific anyway, as they always are."
The concert, which is held twice on Sunday 10 December with an afternoon and an evening slot, features a star-studded lineup of performers Some of Matt's fans took to the comments section to wish him well.
One fan said: "Feel better soon, just had it and it takes two weeks."
A second said "Alex took the boys to see Wonka last night and they absolutely loved it and loved you in it. Very excited to see Uncle Matt on the big screen. Hope you get better soon, lots of love matey."
A third wrote: "Get well soon my good man. I suffer with getting chest colds which invariably turn to chest infections. One medication I take which I get over the counter in Hun(I know not much use to you at the moment), works bloody wonders if you can get hold of it."
A fourth added: "Hopefully not like me, same symptoms and turns out to be Covid… Rest up." A fifth said: "So sorry to hear you're sick, Matt. Stay warm and bundled, with lots of baked potatoes, soup and tea."
The concert was due to feature Matt and soundtracks from his musical novel, The Boy Who Slept Through Christmas. Line of Duty star Vicky McClure was originally meant to host the festive event, but had to pull out due to scheduling conflicts.
