‘Slow Horses’ Renewed for Season 5 at Apple TV+ (EXCLUSIVE)

by · Variety

Gary Oldman’s band of MI5 misfits are set to return for another outing.

Slow Horses,” the hit Apple TV+ series based on Mick Herron’s spy series of the same name, has been renewed for a fifth season, Variety can confirm.

Oldman, who recently earned a Golden Globe nod for his performance in the show as irascible spook Jackson Lamb, will return alongside Kristin Scott Thomas, who plays MI5 second desk Diana Taverner, Jack Lowden as espionage nepo baby River Cartwright and Christopher Chung as cocky geek Roddy Ho.

“Everyone is suspicious when resident tech nerd Roddy Ho has a glamorous new girlfriend, but when a series of increasingly bizarre events occur across the city, it falls to the Slow Horses to work out how everything is connected,” reads the logline for Season 5. “After all, Jackson Lamb knows that in the world of espionage, ‘London Rules’ should always apply.”

Season 5 is set to be adapted from the fifth book in Herron’s series, “London Rules.” The director is still to be confirmed.

“Slow Horses,” Apple’s darkly comic espionage drama, first premiered on the streaming platform in 2022 and has quickly become one of its most popular shows. The series follows a dysfunctional team of British intelligence agents who, for various career-ending reasons, have been put out to pasture in Slough House – earning them the nickname Slow Horses.

The team, led by a dishevelled and flatulent Lamb, are often manipulated by their glossy counterparts at Regents Park and yet somehow still manage to save the day.

The nail-biting Season 3 finale dropped on Dec. 27.

”Slow Horses” is adapted for television by Will Smith and produced by See-Saw Films for Apple TV+. Will Smith, Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Douglas Urbanski, Gail Mutrux, Julian Stevens and Graham Yost are executive producers.
