January is shaping up to be a stellar month for TV with a packed slate of exciting new shows launching on streaming services. TV lovers can already catch Peter Capaldi crime drama Criminal Record and the latest season of True Detective, with more blockbusters just around the corner.

One hotly anticipated new series is Expats, a new series starring and produced by Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman. The limited drama series is set against the vibrant and tumultuous tapestry of 2014 Hong Kong and explores the emotions, identities, and relationships of a multifaceted group of three very different American women living in the same small expat community.

The women’s lives intersect after a sudden family tragedy and a single encounter sets off a chain of life-altering events that leaves everyone navigating the intricate balance between blame and accountability. Expats interrogates privilege and explores what happens when the line between victimhood and culpability becomes blurred.
