Rachael Bellew says she can't believe her husband Tony Bellew has made it to the final of this year's ITV I'm A Celebrity final alongside Nigel Farage and Sam Thompson
by Alan Johnson · The MirrorThe wife of I'm A Celebrity star Tony Bellew has admitted she can't believe the former boxer has made it to this year's final of the ITV show.
After taking in part in the Celebrity Cyclone challenge, 41-year old Tony survived the public vote on Saturday and will now go head-to-head with Sam Thompson and Nigel Farage in a bid to be crowned King of the Jungle. His survival came at the expense of This Morning's Josie Gibson, who finished in fourth place as the last remaining female celebrity.
Now Tony's spouse Rachael has revealed the family's shock that he has gone on the distance, adding that the pair's four children are keen for him emerge victorious tonight (December 10). Rachael and Tony share four sons, Corey, 18, Cobey, 15, Carter, 11 and Carson, three.
Rachael told MailOnline: "I can't believe he's still in and in the final. I was so sure he was going today that I tidied the hotel room and everything. I was really emotional this morning when he didn't come out, I was so sure he would and I really want him back now. But of course, the kids want him to win, especially our eleven-year-old, he really wants his dad to win."
Rachael made a surprise visit to the jungle during Friday night's episode after securing permission to take the kids out of school and head Down Under. Tony later described the brief reunion with his childhood sweetheart as the moment that will "stick more than any other" when he looks back at his time on the show.
Rachael has since revealed he whispered to her at the time: "How am I still here?" After joining five days in alongside jockey Frankie Dettori, Tony was one of the outsiders to win, but his stock has risen dramatically and now bookmakers have installed him as 5/1 to see off Sam and Farage.
Earlier this week, meanwhile, Rachael exclusively told the Mirror that Tony would be thinking of his late nan "every day" after she passed away in November. Grandmother Rose died just 24 hours after Tony signed his contract to appear on I'm A Celebrity and he will fly straight to her funeral when the show raps.
Speaking about her impact, Rachael Bellew - who calls her husband Ant - said: "Rose would be so, so proud of Ant. She passed away a few days before he went in so that was obviously very difficult for him. She was like a second mum to Ant - he absolutely idolised her. He called her the ‘boss of the family’. He is doing this for her and I know he will be thinking of her every day while he’s in there."
