ITV The Masked Singer's most wacky line-up ever announced including Eiffel Tower and Air Fryer
For the first time, the stars in the incredible suits have given us some pre-show hints as fans of the Masked Singer can start doing their detective work before the series starts
by Sam Elliott-Gibbs · The MirrorThe Masked Singer is just weeks away and the show returns with its most bonkers line-up of costumes yet.
The ITV1 reality singing competition will hit screens just after Christmas with regulars Davina McCall, singer Rita Ora, chat show host Jonathan Ross and comedian Mo Gilligan in the detective chairs – and this year's costumes have been hailed as the best yet. For the past three years, various stars perform in elaborate head-to-toe costumers, and speak with disguised voices as the celebrity deceives and viewers are tasked with guessing who is behind the mask.
But, for fans, it is what's on the outside that matters too, and the show's costume team have pulled some crackers out this year in terms of elaborate costumes – as the line-up includes Eiffel Tower and Air Fryer. We'll be wowed by an Owl in school uniform, a Bigfoot with a broken leg, a Cup of Bubble Yea and a Rat wearing a tool belt!
Viewers will also see a Dippy Egg, the Weather and a Chicken Caesar take to the stage. For the first time ever, the celebs disguised by the brilliant costumes have spoken before the show even starts – and they have given some little hints about their identity weeks before it all begins.
Host Joel Dommett can't wait for the show to start as he said: "Honestly, they are the best costumes ever. If they don’t make you smile, well, get out! Air Fryer is unbelievably silly. It's so liberating to be a part of a show where first of all, people really enjoy it and also from my point of view, any idea I have, it's fair game. Even when it comes to the suits!
"I think we've definitely got some of the best vocalists we've ever had on the show and we've had some really incredible ones in the past. The show goes through an interesting meandering of, we are all here for all the new characters, but then maybe the better singers start to get through in the last rounds, usually the final. Let's be honest, it’s usually really incredible singers left at that point. This year I really do feel like we've got some of the best we've ever had."
Talking about the costumes, Jonathan Ross said: "I love all of them. I really loved Weather. I thought that was a really beautiful, quite romantic, quite poetic looking costume. I liked Piranha a lot. They're fun, I have to say. Bubble Tea is great. Well, Bubble Tea and Air Fryer make the show very, very modern, don't they? There's a couple of phrases that weren't in common conversation two or three years ago, and now we've got them dancing on primetime ITV1!"
Rita Ora said viewers are in for a big surprise in the months ahead. She said: "The voices are the best I've ever heard, and the personalities are so amazing. It's super versatile. It just gets better. When you're coming on this show, this is a BAFTA winning show! It's a really amazing kind of family show."
