Former Hollyoaks star Lucy-Jo Hudson has been supported by her fans and followers after opening up about 'blended families'. The actress, who played Donna-Marie Quinn in the Channel 4 soap, shares a daughter, Sienna, with Coronation Street star Alan Halsall.

Lucy, who previously admitted that co-parenting with an ex can be 'challenging', met Tyrone Dobbs actor Alan on the set of Corrie - in which she played Katy Harris - all the way back in 2002. After seven years of marriage, having tied the knot in 2009, the former couple announced that they had separated back in 2016 - saying at the time they would remain close friends.

However, on that occasion, they reconciled a month later before splitting again in 2018. Lucy went on to find love with Lewis Devine, whom she first met when they appeared together in pantomime in 2017, and the couple share a son together while Alan has been in a relationship with former Corrie star Tisha Merry for a number of years.

Lucy has now shared that this year, Sienna spent Christmas Day with her dad while she spent the day with her husband Lewis and their son, Carter. They then reunited on Boxing Day for a 'second Christmas' but Lewis did have to work as he stars in panto.

Sharing a string of pictures to Instagram, Lucy started to write: "Merry Christmas you lovely lot. I’m so sorry I’ve been so quiet on here, I hope you’ve all had a gorgeous Christmas? Ours has been really chilled this year, which we’ve actually really appreciated…

"With Lew only having one day off (Christmas Day) and I’ve been run ragged with the kids and sorting Christmas so as soon as Christmas Day came, it was time to relax, well as much as you can with a threenager… but nana and papa were on hand to help, and bless Lew, (and nana) team effort they cooked Christmas dinner, cos as you all know I’m not the best of cooks. And I’m not sure if you can cook a whole dinner in an air fryer?"

It is then when the former soap star shared: "Now I wasn’t sure whether to write this or not…. But then I thought why not? We’re all human aren’t we? We are, as you know a blended family, and this year was not our year to have sienna for Christmas… and I really felt it.

"I’m not writing this for you to feel sorry for me, absolutely not, I’m just speaking from the heart and I know there’s a lot of blended families out there that will feel the same…. and I just wanted to be honest! Christmas is a magical time of year but it can also be blumming stressful, chaotic, and at times emotional, especially for people who are missing their loved ones and I just wanted to let you know that I’m thinking of you."

Lucy rounded off her post by sharing: "On the other hand, Carter has had the best time ever, bless him, he really got it this year, and he was so excited to wake up and see what Santa had brought him! It was magic just watching the excitement on his little face when he was opening his presents and when sienna came home on Boxing Day for “our Christmas Day” the magic began again. Merry Christmas all. Roll on 2024."

And her fans and followers were soon responding in the comments section. @sueranshaw said: "Merry Christmas. Sorry your family wasn’t complete but sienna will be back soon for you to enjoy her again." @jord_russ87 commented: "This wasn't my year either and we had Christmas day on boxing day too. It was the worst waiting for them but the best when they came and of course they loved it as it means double the presents.haha."

@kazzac86 shared: "Aw Lucy I know how you feel, my daughter was at the lakes with her dad this Christmas it was horrible. Boxing day couldn't come quick enough. Hope you still had a lovely Christmas." @carollacey23 added: "Merry Christmas to you all looks like you all had a lovely time. Family most important blended or not."
