After its initial release in January 2023, the show quickly became one of Prime Video's standout dramas, leaving legions of viewers eagerly awaiting the sequel.
Now, after nearly two years, Prime Video has set the return of The Rig for January next year and has unveiled the first look at the new season.

The original cast members, including Glen, Hampshire, Compston, Rochenda Sandall, and Mark Addy, are all confirmed to reprise their roles, reports the Mirror.
New faces joining the ensemble include Alice Krige, Jacob Fortune-Lloyd, Ross Anderson, Phil McKee, and Johannes Roaldsen Furst, as announced by the streamer.
In a significant plot development, the second season will transport the drama to an undisclosed facility within the Arctic Circle.
The show has already captivated audiences with its enigmatic storyline. One glowing five-star review praised it: "This was one of the best thought out shows I've ever seen. The scenery was amazing and so well executed and same with the story line. Every episode you always wanted to know more which made it more gripping.
"The fact that it wasn't too wild with the supernatural activity made it perfect and almost like it was real. To add to that the casting was amazing and they fit the roles so well I'd happily watch season 2 if there is one to come."

A second fan commented: "I loved the show and found it really gripping. Wanted to keep watching after each episode and was a bit gutted when it was over. I just really hope they make another one."
A third viewer was drawn in by the premise, saying: "The Rig was absolutely brilliant. it gets you within the first few minutes which I love because I easily get bored but this was just excellent, but it also makes you think about nature paying us back for the way we treat our planet. I'll say no more. don't want to spoil it for you. it's a full 10/10 from me."
A fourth fan wrote: "Very good and edge of seat stuff. Shame it is only one season at the moment, excited to see what happens in the next series."
The next season's synopsis reads: "Helicopters have taken the surviving crew of the Kinloch Bravo to a new secret offshore facility called the Stac, nestled deep in the extraordinary and deadly landscapes of the Arctic Circle.
