Alison Hammond has said she 'nearly cried' after spotting a familiar face in the audience as she nears the end of her 'biggest' job. The This Morning star has been busy for the past month performing in her home city in Birmingham Hippodrome's pantomime production of Jack and the Beanstalk.

Alison has starred as the Spirit of the Beans in the production, performing to audiences alongside the likes of Matt Slack, Doreen Tipton, Samantha Womack and Andrew Ryan. But Alison's time on stage is soon set to come to an end.

Taking to Instagram last weekend, the TV star, 48, spoke directly to the camera while elaborately dressed in character - with a feathered blue headdress stealing the show. She said: "Hi everyone, I'm just giving you a heads up that there's only seven days left until the end of Jack and the Beanstalk at the Birmingham Hippodrome."

She continued: "I'm going to be gutted when it's over because I've loved being the spirit of the bean but make sure you come and experience such a funny, entertaining and lovely panto."

And the week has quickly flown by with Alison now set to end her panto stint this weekend. But not before she got some special guests to come and watch her in action.

Alison took to Instagram to reveal that Josie Gibson had been to see the show with her son Reggie, five, and her best friend Mia Dora Williams. Alison wrote alongside a selfie of her and her two pals: "Thanks @josiegibson85 and @miadorawilliams for coming to see me in panto, I nearly cried when I saw you in the audience."

Alison added: "Also thank you to each and every person who paid for a ticket to see the show thanks for your energy and love. My heart is filled with gratitude and pride of the city I love Birmingham and this incredible thing we call life."

Josie also took to Instagram to praise her pal, writing alongside a selfie of the pair "Absolutely amazing in Panto!! @alisonhammond55. Reggie shouting Alison in his seat was sooo cute!"
