Jacob Batalon on Working With Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield on SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME and His Hopes to See Ned Return

Marvel’s Spider-Man trilogy, known (so far) as the Home Trilogy, has watched the rise and fall of Tom Holland’s Peter Parker alongside his two best friends, Ned (Jacob Batalon) and MJ (Zendaya).

This all came to a crashing halt in the third film, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and we don’t know what will come next for the character, but we do hope to see him end up with some happiness after all he’s gone through.

Ned actor Jacob Batalon recently talked about what he hopes to see come next for his character, but first he explained to ComicBook how cool it was to film that last movie, which we saw bring back both Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker, as well as Andrew Garfield’s. And it was even Ned who was the one to actually bring them out of the portal.

The actor explained:

“I remember thinking that it was probably one of those moments where people will probably be talking about it for a long time. It was really fun. I feel like that was probably the time where I kind of got to know them the most. I think everyone on set knew it was really special. It had never been done before. I feel like everyone understood the gravity of the moment, but we also kept it really light. At that point in filming, because we were working during the pandemic, we were just all grateful to be there.”

As for whether or not we will see Ned return in the fourth Spider-Man movie, now that he has no memory of his best friend, Batalon remains in the dark, even as fans speculate his character’s potential sinister turn into the Hobgoblin. Batalon said:

“I honestly don’t know. I don’t know what any future holds for any of them in that world. I just feel like if things happen, they happen. I hope so. I definitely hope so. It’s sad that he has no friends anymore.”

It really is such a sad place they’ve left Peter Parker. I hope to see him find happiness in the next film, and I would personally rather see him reunite with MJ and Ned than to see one of his friends turn into a villain, but whichever way it heads, I’m along for the ride.
