SingPost marks Year of the Dragon with new stamps, special collector's sheet
The Zodiac Dragon stamps will go on sale from Friday.
· CNA · JoinSINGAPORE: New stamps and a special collector's sheet were unveiled by Singapore Post (SingPost) on Thursday (Jan 4) to mark the start of the Year of the Dragon.
This is the fifth set in the Chinese Zodiac series, said SingPost. The stamps are part of a 12-year series that kicked off in 2020 with the Year of the Rat.
The Zodiac Dragon stamps, which will go on sale from Friday, feature "vibrant graphical illustrations" of the dragon, taking its place after the Rabbit in the Chinese Zodiac order.
The entire series was designed by animator and illustrator Ms Lim An-Ling. She has been collaborating with SingPost since 2013, said the group.
The stamp sets come in two denominations: First Local (S$0.52) and S$2.
Pre-cancelled first day covers affixed with the complete set of stamps and cancelled with a special Zodiac Dragon postmark will be sold at S$4.05.
The Presentation Pack containing both stamps is priced at S$5.10.
A special collector’s sheet for S$19.15 will also be available. It comprises a commemorative S$10 stamp and a set of eight red packets in a folder.
This collector’s sheet is designed by Mr Andy Koh, who has designed several stamp issues since 2000, said SingPost. The design of the collector’s sheet is a modern take on traditional Chinese paper cutting.
SingPost added that postage labels bought at select SAM kiosks at the General Post Office and Suntec Post Office will feature a limited-run dragon-themed Chinese New Year design from Friday.
All dragon-themed stamps and gift products will be available at all post offices, philatelic stores and counters, as well as online while stocks last.
