Emmerdale star Charley Webb has sent a message on her social media declaring she is "over and out" following the end of an 'incredible journey' after confirming her split from her husband Matthew Wolfenden.

The former couple first met on the set of the ITV soap and issued a statement on their marriage last week, confirming things had come to an end. Shortly after, he was spotted with his new reported new girlfriend, who he met starring in Elf the Musical in London's West End.

Charley, 35, has been touring across the country in her first theatre role in Quiz the Play amid her ex-husband appearing to move on in a new romance with personal trainer and musical theatre star Heather Scott Martin.

The mum-of-three, who shares her kids with Matthew, 43, confirmed their split as she wrote: "It is with love and respect that Matthew and I have decided to separate. We remain friends and our priority is the love for our children."

"For their sake we would appreciate privacy at this time. C x" Matthew, known as David Metcalfe on Emmerdale, also shared the same message on his Instagram story signing off with "M".

She then wrote: "Over and out Diana. This job has been the most incredible journey, I’ve made friends for life."

Strictly star Gemma Atkinson was quick to respond to the post, simply posting a string of clapping emojis. Her Hollyoaks star brother Jamie Lomas also said: "Well done babes."

Former Emmerdale star Sheree Murphy replied: "Well done! Love ya." While her fans and followers were quick to show their support.

The couple had previously split in 2013 for two years before surprising fans by throwing an unexpected wedding in 2018. Matthew told The Mirror at the time that their separation was never meant to be 'permanent'.

He said: "It was never a permanent split, we just needed some time apart. Sometimes life just gets on top of you. We had a 'terrible' two-year-old at the time and needed time to look at what we had, but it was the best thing we could have done."

The pair share three children together; Buster, 13, Bowie, eight, and Ace, four.
