The principals for this summer’s Annan Riding of the Marches were all sashed at a ceremony held in Newington Social Club on Saturday night.

It was the first time that they were all together and they were delighted with the public’s support at the event which was followed by a disco.

Annan Cornet for 2024 is Ewan Murray, with Kayleigh Murray the new Cornet’s Lass 2024 and Jenny Park the Standard Bearer.

Also sashed were this year’s Queen of the Border Macy Oliver, champion Lloyd Downie, ladies in waiting Maddie Irving and Imogen Cairns, and the heralds Emma Irving and Ellie Mitchell.

The crowning ceremony will take place in June ahead of the Annan ROM and Gala Day on the first Saturday in July, following a fortnight of traditional ROM activities.

• Lacey Thom was voted as this year’s Lockerbie Gala Queen after a poll by the community held in the town hall on Friday evening.

For this year’s gala and Riding of the Marches in Lockerbie in June, Lacey will be ably assisted by her two senior attendants Keilly-Shae Cloy Gray and Sarah McKie as well as page girl Amelia Chambers; flower girl Lottie Ramsay; and junior attendants Katie Boyd, Mairi Bodell, Ashley Dobson and Devahn MacDonald.

This year’s principals are Cornet Kieran Patterson, Cornet’s Lass Anna Kennedy and Standard Bearer Lori Mossop.
