by Zoe DelaneyAssistant Showbiz Editor, Shivon Watson · Irish MirrorAntiques Roadshow viewers were left amused during the latest episode when a guest brought in a "Muff Chain" to be evaluated.
The beloved BBC show aired another episode on Sunday night (March 17), with presenter Fiona Bruce and her team of experts visiting Londonderry for St Patrick's Day. A guest on the show presented a unique chain that had been in her family since the 1950s, originally owned by her aunt. When expert Joanna Hardy asked about the chain's history, the guest admitted she wasn't sure.
Joanna revealed: "It's nearly 200 years old! It's a belcher link chain or we call it a muff chain." She explained that a muff chain was typically attached to a muff, highlighting the beautiful decoration work on the light-weight chain, reports the Daily Star.

Joanna also noted that the chain's light weight was due to a gold shortage at the time it was made. She was impressed that the chain still retained its length, as it would have likely been cut up to create other pieces of jewellery.
However, the term "muff" caused quite a stir among viewers, who took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their amusement. One tickled viewer wrote: "Ok, you got my attention #MuffChain."
Elsewhere in the latest installment of the BBC show, one guest was stunned when she discovered the value of two chairs her husband picked up from a charity shop for £10 each. Antiques expert Mark Hill described the two bargain chairs as "battered but beautiful" as he offered his opinions.
"The orange material put me off a bit, but it doesn't put the dogs off and they sit on one each and look out at the view," Mark mused, before gushing over some of the item's detailing and revealing the chairs to have been crafted by iconic American designer Adrian Persall who founded Craft Associates.
Mark when on to tell the owner of the chairs that some sanding down would be required before the chairs being put up for auction - with the woman joking that she would need to "clean the dog hair" off the chairs ahead of parting with them. Mark then stunned the lady, as he revealed his valuation.
"You're looking at about £600!" Mark told the stunned woman. Seemingly in a state of shock, the woman muttered "thank you" before confessing she will still let her beloved pet pooches sit on the newly-valued chairs, despite Mark delivering a three-figure valuation for them.
