HDI Global expands in Middle East through new regional office in Dubai
UAE – Mubasher: HDI Global SE has received a regulatory licence from the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) to open an office in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), marking a significant step in their international expansion.
The new office, led by Managing Director Willem van Wyk, will bring HDI Global's financial strength and expertise closer to clients in the Middle East, according to a press release.
Van Wyk, with over three decades of experience in the global insurance industry, has previously held senior roles in the Middle East and has contributed to significant growth in HDI Global's Asia Pacific portfolio.
HDI Global's move to Dubai aligns with their global vision and strategy for growth in the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions.
The new office will initially offer engineering, construction, and property insurance products, led by experienced professionals Riziq Ishaq and John Morrell. As the business grows, additional insurance lines will be introduced.
The presence in DIFC aims to strengthen relationships with brokers and clients, providing local access to HDI Global's international programmes and risk consulting capabilities.
HDI Global plans to commence operations in the third quarter (Q3) of 2024, enhancing their ability to offer innovative solutions and reliable service to clients operating both internationally and in the Middle East.
“The Middle East continues to become a more important player in the global economy. The DIFC is a dynamic marketplace that provides growth opportunities for HDI now and in the future," said Willem van Wyk.
David Hullin, member of the HDI Global board of management, stated: “Dubai is an exciting opportunity for us to move closer to this expanding market, strengthen our relationships with brokers and clients by providing solutions through a local team of underwriters, led by Willem van Wyk who has many years’ experience in the market.”
Arif Amiri, CEO of DIFC Authority, commented: “We welcome HDI Global to DIFC. As the region’s largest financial centre with over 42,000 people, DIFC continues to enhance its ecosystem for the sector.”
“With its 20-year strong track-record of servicing people and businesses in the region, the Centre is home to the largest cluster of over 100 registered insurers, reinsurers, captives and insurance-related entities who are utilising our platform to achieve their growth ambitions,” Amiri added.
