Jospong Group Secures Over $100 Million Offers for Agricultural Ventures in 18-Month Span

by · News Ghana

Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong, the Executive Chairman of the Jospong Group of Companies, disclosed that the company has been engaged in the agriculture sector for the past 18 months, during which they have garnered offers exceeding 100 million dollars.

Addressing an audience at the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons, covered by Ghana Bloggers Association he highlighted additional offers, including a notable one from Dubai amounting to 4 million dollars.

This revelation came during the announcement of a momentous collaboration between Jospong Group and Russia’s RUDN University. The two entities formalized their partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at providing scholarships to more than 600 Ghanaian students. The focus areas for these scholarships are agribusiness, waste management, and climate change.

Dr. Agyepong, reflecting on the journey, drew parallels to a biblical scripture emphasizing the perseverance in doing good and the subsequent realization of profits at the opportune moment. He underscored that the inception of their venture into agriculture was driven not by financial motives but by a commitment to addressing a prevailing problem.

This collaborative initiative, set to kick off this year, will commence with the enrollment of an initial group of 120 students from various Ghanaian tertiary institutions. These students will embark on a comprehensive two-year program at RUDN University in Russia.

The official signing ceremony took place in Accra, graced by the distinguished presence of the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin. Other notable attendees included Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, the Minister of Education, and Dr. Freda Prempeh, the Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources.

This strategic partnership is poised to bridge the gap between academia and industry, fostering the transfer of knowledge and equipping young minds with essential skills to tackle critical challenges within Ghana’s agriculture sector.
