Wetherspoon pub on edge of Bristol sold after two years on the market
The Jolly Sailor pub has been on the market for almost two years
by Ellie Kendall · BristolLiveA Wetherspoon pub in Hanham has been sold after almost two years on the market. The Jolly Sailor, which is located on the High Street, has long been described 'one of the best' in the city.
The pub chain announced that a number of its pubs, including this one in Hanham, would close in 2022 because of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and the ever-rising costs of food and energy bills. In April, BristolLive reported that the pub was still seemingly on the market.
But now a buyer has been confirmed for the site and it seems likely it will continue running as a pub when the new owners take over. A spokesperson for JD Wetherspoon told BristolLive on May 13: "Wetherspoon has exchanged on the property and completion is set for July 5.

"The pub team have been briefed on this and there will be no redundancies. They will either be offered a job with the new owners or relocate to other Wetherspoon pubs in the region."
It has not yet been confirmed as to who the pub has been sold to, and when the final day of trading will take place. However a Wetherspoon spokesperson says this will be announced in due course.
The pub was advertised on Savills and Rightmove with a price of £400,000 back in April, down from £500,000 a year ago. Rightmove had noted at this time that the property was 'under offer'.
The property is described as having an external beer terrace at the rear, providing seats for 74 customers, and bar areas on the ground floor and first floor.
