In Short

  • Ranbir Kapoor's 'Animal' will clash with Ranbir Kapoor's 'Animal' on December 1.
  • Trade analyst Ramesh Bala predicts Rs 75 crore for 'Animal' on Day 1.
  • He further added that 'Animal' is like a hurricane in front of 'Sam Bahadur'.

Ranbir Kapoor's upcoming film 'Animal' is currently the talk of the town. Speaking exclusively with IndiaToday. in, trade expert Ramesh Bala revealed that the film could open with Rs 75 crore on its opening day. He then went on to decode the numbers for 'Animal' in India and worldwide.

Ever since the trailer was released last week, the buzz around the film has increased tenfold. This is being witnessed in the film's advance booking. As per reports, it has recorded one of the highest pre-sales for a Bollywood movie ever for the opening day as well as the weekend.

''ANIMAL' COULD OPEN WITH RS 75 CRORE GROSS ON DAY 1': TRADE EXPERT

Speaking about the advance booking of the film, Ramesh said, "I think 'Animal's' booking is extraordinary. It belongs to a mass genre and on the other hand, Vicky Kaushal's 'Sam Bahadur' is of a different genre - it is more niche. In that case 'Animal' should open well at the box office. Also, there is a great buzz in the north and south markets as well, so it should open with a big number. I think the advance booking is already, reaching some Rs 10 crore. I think on Day 1 (Hindi) collection would stand at Rs 30 crore NBOC (Net box office collection). But, if you include Telugu and Tamil, it should do Rs 40 crore approximately. Worldwide, it should do Rs 75 crore gross on Day 1."

WILL 'ANIMAL' BEAT 'JAWAN', 'PATHAAN' AND 'GADAR 2?

When asked if 'Animal' would break the records of 'Jawan', 'Pathaan', and 'Gadar 2', Ramesh stated, "I think it will only break Ranbir Kapoor's previous records. It may be his best movie, and the collection will be definitely better than 'Brahmastra'. But nowhere it will be near 'Jawan' or 'Pathaan's' collection. However, it may compete with Salman Khan's 'Tiger 3's' opening day numbers. Having said that, this is Ranbir's biggest advance collection in his career. The trailer of 'Animal' is looking really good. The songs, violence, and the director - everything is looking in its favour. Also, if the content and word of mouth is good then big numbers are expected. After the first show, we can tell confidently what will be the fate."

'TIGER 3' VS 'SAM BAHADUR' AT THE BOX OFFICE

Speaking about the clash with Vicky Kaushal's 'Sam Bahadur', he said, "To some extent, the collection of 'Sam Bahadur' will be affected due to 'Animal'. 'Sam Bahadur' should do reasonably well. The film is also good in it's own way. It's a patriotic movie, so it will have a long run. I'm hoping if the film is good so it will have a steady long run. It should also have some good opening numbers. However, 'Animal' will be like a hurricane in the front of 'Sam Bahadur'."
