South Africa’s cloud, hosting, and data centre kings
by Staff Writer · MyBroadbandMyBroadband’s business IT decision-maker survey revealed that Google is the preferred cloud provider in South Africa.
The survey further showed that Teraco tops the data centre list, and Afrihost reigns supreme in the hosting sector.
MyBroadband’s Corporate IT brand survey asked IT professionals about their preferences regarding business IT solutions.
The survey was completed by 1,518 respondents, the majority of whom were executives and managers deciding on which IT products their companies buy.
The results were filtered to only include respondents who decide which ICT products and services their company uses.
Top cloud providers
As part of the survey, IT decision-makers were asked which cloud services provider they think is best for their company.
Google Cloud was the preferred provider, with 39% of the vote, narrowly beating Microsoft Azure with 35%. Amazon Web Services (AWS) was third with 22%.

Top hosting providers
In the survey, respondents were asked which hosting provider they would pick to host a new website.
Afrihost crushed the competition with 46% of the vote, followed by Xneelo on 15%, and Domains.co.za on 13%.

As part of the survey, IT decision-makers were asked which data centre provider they think is the best in South Africa.
Teraco received the most votes with 32%, followed by Dimension Data with 22%, and Vodacom Business with 16%.
