Recall of popular blender due to fire risk, with over 11,000 affected products in Ireland
An urgent recall was issued for the popular product that could overheat and catch fire
by Cathal Ryan · Irish MirrorAn urgent recall has been issued for a popular kitchen appliance that poses a serious risk of fire, with more than 11,000 affected products all over the country.
The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) issued a recall of the BlendJet 2 Portable Blender on Tuesday, warning customers that the battery within the product may overheat while charging causing it to catch fire.
Also, in certain circumstances of intensive use, a blender blade may break off, releasing a fragment, with the consequent risk of laceration of an internal digestive organ if it is swallowed.

The brand is BlendJet. The affected units are among the following serial numbers: 5201000000 through and including 5542999999.
Any BlendJet 2 with a serial number that begins with 5543 or a greater number is not subject to this recall, as it already features the updated base.
There are approximately 11,877 affected products in the Republic of Ireland. The product was sold from October 2020 to November 2023
If you believe that you may have purchased an affected product, the CCPC has advised that you should discontinue use immediately.
