Hoping to be another Sotto

FAR Eastern University-Diliman standout Cholo Anonuevo, hoping to follow the footsteps of Kai Sotto, arrived in the United States yesterday to train with sports and entertainment management company East West Private.

“Tomorrow let the training begin! We are excited to help you reach your dreams,” East West Private’s Instagram post to Anonuevo said.

Anonuevo became a highlight sensation for the Baby Tamaraws in the UAAP high school basketball tournament with his crowd-pleasing slam dunks and complete all-around game.

A nephew of FEU men's basketball team consultant Nash Racela, Anonuevo averaged 8.9 points, 8.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.1 steals in Season 82.

Before going to the Baby Tamaraws, the 6-foot-4 Anonuevo had been showcasing his skills in Dublin and was actually part of pool for the Gilas youth team.

The Atlanta-based East-West Private is the management team of Sotto, which is currently with the NBA G League select team. This is the same group who brought NBA All-Stars in the late Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant and Chris Paul to play against the Gilas Pilipinas in an exhibition game during the NBA lockout in 2011.
