Farm shop closed 'temporarily' after family member tests positive for Covid-19

Click and collect service still operating

A Derbyshire farm shop has been forced to close its doors "as a precaution" after a family member tested positive for coronavirus.

Kay and Steve Croot, who run Croots Farm shop and café at Farnah House Farm, Wirksworth Road, near Duffield, have put out an email to customers informing them of the situation.

But they emphasise the shop's click and collect service is still operating.

Their message said: "Please note, we are temporarily closed to customers from today, Monday, July 27 as a precaution after a family member tested positive for Covid-19.

"Our click and collect service remains available and will be operated by a number of staff who has either been on furlough or on holiday and have not been in the shop recently.

"The family member affected is not involved in serving customers."

The couple, who set up the business in 2008, say they have undertaken a deep clean of the back-of-house areas as per the procedures they put in place a number of weeks ago following a full Covid-19 risk assessment.

They added: "The safety of our customers and our staff is paramount, and we will re-open as soon as we can after we have had the chance to speak to the relevant authorities and taken their advice. We will update you as we have more information."

Husband and wife couple, Steve and Kay, opened the business at Kay's family farm and the shop and café has won numerous awards for its products, and Steve was named Derbyshire Local Food Hero 2014 at the Derbyshire Food and Drink Awards.

The business remained open throughout the lockdown offering click and collect services and delivery for the elderly and vulnerable is still operating.
