The midweek Premier League games could be crucial in determining the standings in the Champions League race at the end of the season.

Chelsea, Leicester City and Manchester United are going head to head to try and grab the remaining two positions in the top four in order to qualify for the competition next season.

Chelsea are in action against Premier League Champions Liverpool tonight (Wednesday), but first, fans will be keeping an eye on how United get on against West Ham United at Old Trafford.

While United started the game brightly, the Hammers grew into it throughout the first 45 minutes, and much to the delight of both Chelsea and Leicester fans, were awarded a penalty just before the half time whistle.

The decision was given by VAR, after a ferocious shot from the Hammers was blocked by the hands of Man United midfielder Paul Pogba, who fell to the ground after the ball struck him.

The VAR review showed the Frenchman use his hands to protect himself, and recommended that referee Paul Tierney pointed to the spot.

It is an incident that could be crucial in the race for the top four, and Leicester and Chelsea fans didn’t give up the opportunity to enjoy the moment.

Michail Antonio was the West Ham man to step up and put the Hammers into the lead.

However, that lead wouldn’t last for too long, with Mason Greenwood drawing the Red Devils level early in the second half.

No matter the result at Old Trafford, Chelsea know that a win against the Reds would secure them a place in the top four with one game left to play.
