Cases rise, but Brazilian continue to leave isolation

The coronavirus curve is still rising in Brazil, but its isolation rates are in decline. According to GPS data measured by Google between March and July, the number of people on Brazil’s streets increased by at least 30 percent in every state. 

The number of cases and deaths, however, shows no sign of slowing down. Brazil is still averaging around 1,000 new coronavirus deaths and 40,000 new cases per day.

In most cases, the highest isolation rate was recorded in March, when governors began enforcing quarantine measures. Since then, authorities have softened isolation rules, and Brazilians have begun to gradually leave their homes and try to return to some sort of normalcy. 

Circulation rates of the coronavirus are growing as Brazilians go back to work and engage again in leisure activities as Brazil’s bars and restaurants reopen.
