Telangana to replace men with machines for hygiene in Covid-19 care centres

by · Mumbai Mirror

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has decided to procure sophisticated equipment for cleaning and several other services at Covid-19 care centres.

Health minister Eatala Rajender said modern equipment is available for floor, wall and washroom cleaning. The government would procure them and distribute to all the Covid hospitals in the state. The government has also decided to buy mechanised equipment for removing the biomedical wastes.

The minister said a considerable number of sanitation staff were quarantined because of working in the vulnerable conditions. "There is also shortage of staff. People are not willing to serve in the Covid wards. Hence, we are turning to technology," he explained.

Hotpack carriers (used in flights) are being procured for food supply to the Covid-19 persons in hospitals.

Meanwhile, Registered and Private Medical Practitioners (RMPs and PMPs) approached the minister requesting that their services be utilised in Covid care. Rajender proposed that people with symptoms should be identified in early stages and referred to the designated hospitals for treatment. He told the RMP and PMP doctors that most of the deaths can be prevented with early treatment.

Telangana RMP, PMP, COMMUNITY Paramedics and Experienced Practitioners Association submitted a representation to the minister seeking role in Covid services.
