Roy Keane has delivered his verdict on Frank Lampard’s first season in charge of Chelsea.

Lampard succeeded Maurizio Sarri last summer despite only having one-year of management under his belt with Derby County in the Championship.

After a rocky start to the campaign, the Blues soon found their feet and confirmed their place in next season’s Champions League with a win over Wolves on the final day of the Premier League season.

Mason Mount's 25-yard free-kick set the Blues on their way in first half stoppage time before Olivier Giroud's effort from close range just 144 seconds later sealed all three points for Lampard’s side.

The win means Chelsea finish fourth in the Premier League table, four points ahead of Leicester City.

Lampard has been praised for giving youth a chance this season and Keane has been quick to praise him for doing so.

He told Sky Sports: “I expected them to be there or thereabouts. But the way they’ve played, and the way Frank comes across, I think he comes across really well.

“They’ve finished in the top four and obviously, if they can win the FA Cup, it’s a great achievement. It’s a huge step forward for Chelsea.”
