Arsenal academy graduate has sent a message following the confirmation that he will wear the number seven shirt at Arsenal next season.

The left-sided player has been used in a variety of positions so far this season, becoming a stand-in left-back due to injuries to Kieran Tierney and Sead Kolasinac earlier in the campaign.

However, since the restart, the 18-year-old has mainly been used in a more attacking position on the left side of the midfield.

In his 39 appearances in all competitions so far this campaign, Saka has scored four goals and provided 11 assists.

His impressive performances has led to speculation that he is being watched by England manager Gareth Southgate ahead of the European Championships that will now take place next summer due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The teenager has also been awarded by his club ahead of the new campaign. He signed a new long-term contract at the Emirates Stadium at the start of this month and has now been given the number seven shirt for the 2020/21 season.

When Saka first broke into the first-team squad, he was number 87, before taking the number 77 shirt this season.

Upon the announcement of the new number, Saka posted a video on Twitter going through the squad numbers he has worn at the Emirates Stadium.

Alongside the video is a message that simply reads: “New chapter...7.”

Saka will be following in the footsteps of the likes of Robert Pires, Paul Merson, and Ray Parlour, all of whom wore the number seven shirt as some point of their Arsenal career.
