Although the bear appeared friendly, the woman turned to slowly walk away and the animal started to follow her.

The bear clutched on to her left leg as he perched on the ground before taking a liking to her left arm.

Despite the scary moment, the lady remained unfazed and looked fascinated by the bear's curiosity. She didn't drop any of her belongings that were in her hand.

The encounter reportedly happened near to the popular hiking trail at Chipinque Ecological Park in San Pedro Garza García.

Park officials have reportedly set traps for the roaming bear as the animal is considered a risk to visitors.

The animal was reportedly the same bear which was filmed sniffing a hiker who later shared her incredible selfie , a park official told El Universal.

It’s thought that the bear was identified by a tag on its left ear, meaning it may be used to human contact as it stays incredibly calm.

Despite the heart stopping moment in the park, the women kept their cool when the curious bear approached them from behind on a trail.

He was pictured on its hind legs as it approached the woman, had a sniff before pressing himself against her.

The bear was so preoccupied with sniffing the hiker's head that efforts to distract him failed.

The hiker quickly seized the unbelievable moment and pulled out her phone to take a selfie.

As if completely aware, the bear stood just long enough for the picture before dropping back on all fours and lightly swatting at the woman's legs twice.

That heartstopping moment was shared on social media where it amassed more than two million views since Saturday.

Former NBA player Rex Chapman shared the video on his page and wrote: "Oh. my. goodness. She’s a rock. I want this girl in my foxhole..."

The user who shared the video noted that it wasn't uncommon to see black bears in Chipinque Ecological Park, and it's certainly not the first time it was caught on camera.

Black bears are normally shy animals but they can become curious. They can gain more information from its sense of smell, sight and hearing when they stand up on their hind legs.

The majority of their diet generally consists of grasses, roots and berries although bears are known for sniffing around garbage cans.
