Homeless connection probed in former nightclub fire

RIVERSIDE – (INT) – Damage is estimated at $4 million in the wake of a fire Thursday at the one-time Tremors Sports Bar and Grill on University Avenue.

Although the cause is under investigation, investigators said Friday that Code Enforcement personnel had been working with the owner on removing homeless individuals who had broken into the boarded up building and were living there.

There were no injuries to the nearly 50 fire personnel who fought the 3-alarm blaze.

Flames were kept away from the nearby Grand Marc Apartments. Half of the units at the Dynasty Suites were evacuated.

The fire appeared to have started at the rear of Tremors in a back room and spread to the attic.
