Tickets for Kamloops drive-in on sale now for August

While the recent rise in B.C.'s COVID-19 cases may lead to some services closing once again, there's one pandemic-safe activity in Kamloops that won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

Tickets are now on sale for the Twin Rivers Drive-In for this weekend and all showings in August.

"Next weekend we've got Jaws and E.T. playing," Dusan Magnolan, Executive Director of The Kamloops Film Society said. He hopes audiences will be excited about some retro films showing over the next month.

Dolittle and Jurassic Park will be playing August 7 and 8, followed by the Wizard of Oz and Wonder Woman August 14 and 15. Space Jam and Batman (directed by Tim Burton) will be playing August 21 and 22, followed by Trolls and American Graffiti August 29.

"We're seeing in B.C. that we're not flattening the curve as well as we could, and we're excited that this is something that should be able to continue even if some other restrictions are brought back," he said. "It's a pretty safe way to have a good time and be together with family."

The drive-in made its debut on June 25, and tickets for the first three shows sold out in three hours.

In August, showings will be on Fridays and Saturdays only unless organizers see an increase in demand, as ticket sales have dropped following the pilot weekend.

This weekend, the first movie will start promptly at 9:30 p.m. Doors open at 9 p.m.
