Samsung is reportedly building an Exynos CPU for Windows 10 PCs

If the latest from the rumor mill turns out to be correct, Samsung could launch a new Exynos processor to power Windows 10 on ARM.

For those uninitiated, Windows 10 on ARM is a version of the Windows 10 that's designed to run on ARM architecture-based processors such as Qualcomm Snapdragon.

Historically, Windows officially ran on x86 or x64 architecture processors from AMD and Intel. In 2017, Microsoft partnered with Qualcomm to bring Windows 10 to ARM-based Snapdragon processors.

Currently, the Windows 10 on ARM market is still limited to Qualcomm's homegrown processors, but a report suggests that the South Korean tech giant is building a new Exynos processor with support for Windows 10 on ARM.

Samsung's new processor for Windows 10 on ARM could be based on the Exynos 1000 and it will be allegedly called "Exynos 1".

Samsung has also prototyped Exynos 990 for PCs, but the company wants to go for a new chip based on Exynos 1000, which offers better performance.

Needless to say, Samsung's next-gen Galaxy Book lineup will be based on its very own ARM chip and it could be announced later this year or next year depending on the feedback from its internal testings.
