EastEnders star Linda Henry 'heartbroken' when Heather Trott was killed off

EastEnders star Linda Henry was devastated when her close friend and former co-star Cheryl Fergison was written out of the soap as Heather Trott.

Linda’s character Shirley Carter had a much loved friendship with BFF Heather – aka ‘Hev’ – until the character was killed by Ben Mitchell in 2012.

The actress appeared alongside Luisa Bradshaw-White, who plays on-screen sister Tina Carter, on EastEnders: Secrets From The Square on Monday night.

They were shown a clip of Shirley and Heather mucking about with Pat Butcher’s underwear in the launderette where Heather worked.

Linda commented: ‘Broke my heart when they got rid of Cheryl.’

Fans of the pair will be happy to hear that they are still in touch all these years on.

She added to host Stacey Dooley: ‘We still see each other, we go on holiday with each other, every day was a lovely day at work with her.’

EastEnders went off air for the first time ever in June as the coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown that followed put a halt to filming in March. The soap went out with a bang as Sharon (Letitia Dean) was revealed as the new owner of the Queen Vic pub.

BBC One has been showing Secrets From The Square and classic episodes in its place.

It was confirmed in August that the show will return on September 7.
