Love Island star Maura Higgins has said that 'being cheated on' by her last two boyfriends was a 'kick in the teeth'.

The 29-year-old Irish beauty spoke out after her ex boyfriend and Love Island co-star Curtis Pritchard was seen moving on with his new flame.

Maura reportedly feared that Curtis had cheated during their eight-month romance, claims the professional dancer has denied.

Speaking to The Sun's Fabulous magazine, she said: "Everything happens for a reason and, to be honest, I wish him all the best.

"I'm in a good place now. It's not nice to see, but I'm fine. It's kind of a kick in the teeth that I've been cheated on by my last two boyfriends, but I will be stronger for this."

Maura and Curtis started dating on last year's Love Island, with the former couple making it to the final of the hugely-popular ITV dating programme.

Their relationship continued outside of the villa, with the pair seemingly smitten for the rest of 2019.

However, their romance hit the rocks after Maura took part in Dancing On Ice.

Curtis was pictured in a clinch with a girl at a New Year's party just hours after Maura skated for the first time on the ITV skating competition.

Then in March 2020, Curtis was filmed with his current squeeze Amber Pierson just before Maura confirmed their split.

Maura confessed she wished she'd addressed allegations straight away but she was so focused on Dancing On Ice that she 'didn't want to make it an issue'.

When asked why she didn't mention her suspicions at the time, Maura explained to the publication: "I tried to brush it aside and maybe that was the worst thing that I could have done.

"Looking back, in my gut I knew there was something."
