Glasgow man dies after tragically falling on a mountain in Glencoe

A MAN has died after falling on a mountain in Glencoe.

Cameron Steel, 35, from Glasgow was walking on Bidean nam Bian on Saturday when police were called to assist at about 3.35pm.

He and his walking partner were on the northern ridges of the mountain known as the Three Sisters route when police attended along with the Glencoe Mountain Rescue team and the HM Coastguard helicopter.

Police said Mr Steel had sustained a fall and died at the scene.

The helicopter team recovered his body from the mountain.

Police Scotland said in a statement: "Our thoughts are with his family at this time.

"As with all sudden deaths, a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."

Meanwhile, a man appeared in court today charged with the murder of teenager Kirk Allan.

Kevin Murray, 32, made no plea or declaration at the private hearing at Dumbarton Sheriff Court.

The 32-year-old was charged after cops found the body of Kirk, 19, in Helensburgh, Argyll, at 6.25am on Saturday.

Mr Murray, also of Helensburgh, was remanded in custody and will appear in court again next week.

Detective Inspector Steve Martin said: "Enquiries are continuing."
