We seem to be spending a lot more time socialising at home and in parks at the moment - and inevitably there's going to be food and drink involved.

While it's easy to grab a bottle of wine or a four-pack, it can be a faff sorting out something to eat.

Here's where Foodie and the Feast comes in - providing delicious boxes and picnic platters packed with sweet or savoury treats.

It was the time spent in the garden with her family during the pandemic that inspired a receptionist to create the concept, to be enjoyed at home or on picnics, as a gift or to celebrate a special occasion.

After a full week at work, Brooke Kassner, 23, of Long Eaton, buckles down to baking cupcakes and scones and sorting out an array of tasty nibbles for customers to devour at the weekend.

Popcorn, cupcakes, brownies, and chocolate feature in the sweet box, which costs £10, for two to three people. A savoury box with cheese, sausage rolls, cured meats, quiches and olives is £20. A veggie alternative is available.

Also on offer is a takeaway afternoon tea with sandwiches, scones and cakes.

As well as sharing boxes for two, bigger versions can be ordered.

Brooke said: "I was enjoying lunch in the sun in with my family during the pandemic and thought the food I'd put together would be ideal for other families and friends to share together without the hassle.

"Business is going really well. We’ve had orders every weekend and orders in place for over the next month too."

Most customers collect from Brooke in Long Eaton but the boxes can also be delivered up to 15 miles from NG10 for a small charge.

"I'm looking to bring out themed platter boxes in the near future for seasonal events. These boxes are perfect for brunches, gifts for any occasion, picnics and small parties such as baby showers and engagements - or just as a weekend treat," she added.

Orders are taken via Foodie and the Feast on Instagram and Facebook.
