Leon Balogun and Lawrence Shankland in action

Hearts or Rangers, Celtic or Hibs and how will Aberdeen fare? Our writers give predictions for EVERY Prem game tonight

It's capital opposition for Philippe Clement and Brendan Rodgers while the Dons need points to keep danger at bay.

Sandwiched in between the final two Euro group stage slots like Boxing Day turkey, there's a Premiership midweek card to feast on this evening.

Ross County kicked off the festivities on Tuesday night with a 3-0 win over Motherwell, which could well mean Stuart Kettlewell's goose is cooked. But the main event tonight is in the capital in what should be a cracker when Rangers visit Hearts. In recent meetings, the Jambos have gifted the Light Blues all three points but Steven Naismith's side are in good form going into this one.

At the other end of the M8, Celtic host Hibs and while Brendan Rodgers' delicate flowers were dug out for their rotten first half display against St Johnstone, the boss might get the mistletoe out if they do the business against the Hibees and extend the gap at the top, should Gers get nothing from Santa at Tynecastle.

Barry Robson could be forgiven for going into full Ebenezer Scrooge mode given his side's precarious position. The Dons are just three points off the bottom of the table. And Derek McInnes is all set to play the ghost of Pittodrie Christmases past and haunt his former club with Kilmarnock.

A holy night is store at McDiarmid Park as the Saints come together. Stephen Robinson's St Mirren could do with some Christmas cheer after losing their way recently, while jolly old Craig Levein will have plenty of positives to take from the weekend despite St Johnstone's defeat to the champions.

The Record Sport elves try to predict how it's all going to pan out.

Aberdeen vs Kilmarnock

Keith Jackson

The master visits the apprentice at Pittodrie and don’t be surprised if Derek McInnes comes out on top at his former stomping ground. Either way, one goal might be enough for either side.

Aberdeen 0 Kilmarnock 1

Scott Burns

The Dons will get their win and ensure their Premiership campaign is up and running and the naysayers get off Barry Robson’s back.

Aberdeen 2 Kilmarnock 1

Michael Gannon

The Dons are struggling at the back at the moment and Kilmarnock have the ability to make life very awkward while carrying a threat.

Aberdeen 1 Kilmarnock 1

Andy Newport

Barry Robson’s side have hit another lull in form after five games without a win but take on a Killie team who haven’t won away all season, so a draw seems a reasonable shout.

Aberdeen 1 Kilmarnock 1

Celtic vs Hibs

Keith Jackson

You wouldn’t like Brendan Rodgers when he’s angry. Which is why Celtic’s players will know better than to test the manager’s patience for a second game on the trot. Hibs will put up a challenge but the champions will prevail.

Celtic 3 Hibs 1

Scott Burns

Nick Montgomery’s side is hitting a bit of form, Celtic are firing on all cylinders so Hibs can keep their unbeaten run going. Expect a close one anyway.

Celtic 1 Hibs 1

Michael Gannon

There’s been a lot of huffing and puffing with injury hit Celts and it could be another night for patience against a Hibs side who will fancy this.

Celtic 2 Hibs 1

Andy Newport

Hibs look to have turned a corner after three straight wins but Celtic should be ready for them after Brendan Rodgers’ half-time rollicking at Perth.

Celtic 2 Hibs 0

St Johnstone vs St Mirren

Keith Jackson

This one has got stalemate written all over it. Craig Levein has stopped the rot at McDiarmid and will stick another pint in the bag against a St Mirren side which has lost its early momentum.

St Johnstone 1 St Mirren 1

Scott Burns

A point would be better for the Paisley side to arrest their recent lack of form. But Craig Levein will probably be happy to keep putting points on the board.

St Johnstone 1 St Mirren 1

Michael Gannon

There has been signs of improvement with the Perth Saints while the Paisley ones have stuttered of late. The home side can bag a vital win.

St Johnstone 1 St Mirren 0

Andy Newport

The Paisley Saints have surrendered third place to Hearts after Sunday’s loss at Ibrox made it just two wins in their last nine games. St Johnstone are picking up some speed under Craig Levein but I fancy a draw at McDiarmid.

St Johnstone 1 St Mirren 1

Hearts vs Rangers

Keith Jackson

The manager of the month curse will strike Stevie Naismith tonight. Hearts may have improved in recent weeks but this is a game Philippe Clement can’t afford to lose. He won’t.

Hearts 0 Rangers 2

Scott Burns

The Jambos have hit a bit of form and will probably give Rangers a run for their money but when push comes to shove the Glasgow side seem to have a way of eking out results under Philippe Clement.

Hearts 1 Rangers 2

Michael Gannon

The Jambos will have a go after four wins on the spin but that could give Gers the space they need to inflict some damage.

Hearts 1 Rangers 2

Andy Newport

Familiarity may breed contempt but Philippe Clement has enjoyed his two clashes against the Jambos and I can see another narrow win for the Ibrox gaffer.

Hearts 0 Rangers 1
