A Frisco couple had a frightening experience when they encountered an armed burglar while moving into their new home over the weekend.

On Sunday, A.J. Steele told NBC 5 he was moving in on Saturday and noticed the garage door to the apartment unit wouldn't open.

"We had to call the leasing office, and a maintenance employee finally got it open," Steele said.

"And there's a dude in his car sitting, and it's running, and he's trying to reverse out. I knocked on his window and said, 'Hey dude, what are you doing in my garage?' He rolled down his window and said, 'Uh,' and really couldn't say anything.

The moving truck that Steele was using prevented the suspect from leaving the garage in their vehicle. He added the last time he saw the suspect was when they got out of the car and ran back into the apartment through the door leading from the garage.

Steele said he quickly called 911, and Frisco Police arrived shortly after.

According to the Frisco Police Department, officers responded to a home on Legacy Drive and Lakehill Boulevard for a reported burglary in progress.

While the couple waited outside for hours, Frisco Police told NBC 5 they encountered an armed suspect at the location after responding to the burglary in progress call, which led to an officer firing their weapon.

The police department described the shooting as an isolated incident and that the Texas Rangers are the lead investigating agency.

Specifics on the location of the officer-involved shooting and if anyone was injured have not been released.

Frisco Police confirmed with NBC 5 that no officers were injured in the shooting. There is no word on the condition of the suspect.

"We don’t feel safe enough to stay, at least in this unit for sure," Steele said.
