Three arrests and gun recovered after man is shot in Handsworth

Hamstead Road in Handsworth was sealed off on Thursday after a man turned up to hospital with gunshot wounds

Three people have been arrested after a man was shot in Handsworth. An investigation was launched after the victim turned up to hospital with gunshot wounds in the early hours of Thursday (Feb 1).

A section of Hamstead Road, stretching from the Church Lane roundabout to the St Mary's Church, was cordoned off as police conducted their enquiries on Thursday. Today, three men, who are all in their 40s, were arrested after a warrant was executed at an address in Birmingham.

A gun was also recovered during the search. Meanwhile police said the victim's injuries are not said to be life-threatening.

A WMP statement said: "We have arrested three men in connection with a shooting and recovered a gun after executing a warrant in Birmingham this morning (Sun). One man, aged 48 and two men, both aged 45, were arrested after firearms officers carried out a warrant at an address on Hamstead Road.

"All three men are currently in detention as we continue with our enquiries. The arrests relate to an incident in the early hours of Thursday morning (Feb 1) when a man was presented at hospital with gun shot injuries.
